System Requirements

VinzaPanel is installed on a dedicated server or VPS that you control. Check the points below before you start — the installer checks most of them itself and stops with a clear message if something is missing.

Operating system

OSStatus
Ubuntu 22.04 LTSSupported, tested
Ubuntu 24.04 LTSSupported, tested
Ubuntu 26.04 LTSSupported, tested
Ubuntu 20.04 LTSMinimum version accepted by the installer
DebianThe installer continues with a warning (“designed for Ubuntu — proceed with caution”)
Anything elseNot supported — the installer stops
Tip

For a new server, pick the latest Ubuntu LTS your provider offers. Ubuntu is the platform VinzaPanel is designed and tested on.

Hardware

  • Architecture: x86_64 (amd64) or aarch64 (ARM64). Other architectures are refused.
  • Disk: at least 2 GB free on / — the installer checks this. Plan more space for your websites, databases, mail and backups (backups are stored on the same server under each user's home directory).

Software

  • root access (run the installer with sudo).
  • bash and curl or wget.
  • python3 present on the system (it is on every supported Ubuntu). The installer adds Python 3.12 itself (from the deadsnakes PPA when your Ubuntu does not ship it) because the panel runs on that exact version.
  • Outbound internet access to download packages, the release and the app catalogue. The installer detects common DNS and IPv6 problems and tells you how to fix them.

A fresh server

Install VinzaPanel on a fresh server. During setup it installs and configures the web server, PHP-FPM, MariaDB, Redis, PowerDNS and other services, and writes their configuration. A server that already runs a web server, a mail server or another control panel is likely to conflict.

Warning

Do not install VinzaPanel on top of cPanel, Plesk or another panel. If you are moving away from cPanel, install VinzaPanel on a new server and use the cPanel Migration app from the Vinza Store.

Network and ports

The installer enables UFW and opens these ports. If your cloud provider has its own firewall or security group, open them there too:

PortUsed for
22/tcpSSH
2711/tcpVinzaPanel (HTTPS)
80/tcp, 443/tcpWebsites (HTTP/HTTPS)
53/tcp, 53/udpAuthoritative DNS (PowerDNS), when the server has a routable IP

The mail ports (25, 465, 587, 993, 995) are opened by the Mail Server app when you install it. Connecting extra servers with Vinza Server uses port 7900 on each node.

Domain name (optional)

You can start with just the server's IP address. A hostname such as panel.example.com and your own nameservers can be entered in the setup wizard or later in Administration → Panel Settings.
